Hiking tour to Georgia and Armenia

Day 1.

Arrival in Tbilisi

Pick up from Tbilisi International Airport

Transfer to the hotel

City tour in Tbilisi 

On this day, we will meet you in the airport and transfer you to the hotel. After some rest, you will have Tbilisi walking tour. You will see all the major travel attractions of the old town.

 

Day 2.

Zhinvali reservoir

Stepantsminda Village

Back to Tbilisi

After breakfast, you will depart for Kazbegi municipality. On the way, you will see picturesque Zhinvali reservoir, beautiful Ananuri fortress, skiing resort Gudauri, natural monument of Bidara travertine and wonderful village Stepantsminda.
You will also visit amazing Gergeti Holy Trinity church, from where one can observe stunning views of Mount Kazbek (5033m) and village Stepantsminda. Later, the group will head to charming Dariali gorge and Gveleti waterfalls.
In the evening, the group will return to the capital. Overnight will be in Tbilisi.

 

Day 3.

Borjomi Resort

Overnight in Borjomi.

On this day, you will go to the resort Borjomi, which is worldwide famous for its mineral water springs. On the way, you will visit ancient rock-hewn city Uplistsikhe, which is one of the oldest urban settlements in Georgia, dating from the Early Iron Age to the Late Middle Ages.
In case of desire, you will also visit Stalin museum in Gori.
Later, you will pay a visit to the Borjomi park, where you will be able to try mineral water from the spring.
Overnight will be in Borjomi.

 

Day 4.

Kharagauli national park

Rabati fortress

Sapara Monastery (IX century)

Overnight in Vardzia.

On this day, the group will visit Borjomi-Kharagauli national park, which is one of the biggest national parks in Europe, and is famous for its beautiful forests and biodiversity.
Later, you will visit newly renovated Rabati fortress, which was originally built in the 9th century and its name was the Lomisa fortress. Most of the nowadays buildings date from the 17th and 18th centuries.
You will also visit alluring Sapara Monastery (IX century), which is exceptionally beautiful for its carvings on the façade and surrounding nature.
You will overnight in Vardzia.

 

Day 5.

Rock-hewn city Vardzia

Back to Tbilisi

Overnight in Tbilisi.

After breakfast, you will visit gorgeous rock-hewn city Vardzia, established in the second half of the 12th century. Vardzia is one of the most popular and famous travel attractions in Georgia. Vardzia is prominent for an important series of wall paintings. Later, you will visit magnificent Khertvisi fortress, which was built in the 2nd century BC. According to the legend, Khertvisi was destroyed by Alexander the Great.
Afterward, you will visit Saro megaliths and in the afternoon, you will return back to Tbilisi. On the way you will see Sagamo Lake, Poka nunnery, and picturesque Paravani lake.
You will spend the night in Tbilisi.

 

Day 6.

Transfer to the Georgian-Armenian border

Trekking from Haghpat village to Kayan fortress and Sanahin village (4-5 hour, 10 km, medium)

Dinner in Alaverdi town

Trip to Yerevan

Overnight in Yerevan

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Georgia-Armenia border and continue your adventure in Armenia. Here, the guide will meet you at the border. During this day the guests will have an opportunity to visit the medieval fortress of Akhtala village and the monastery complex. After having lunch with master class of making Armenian dishes, the group will move to Haghpat village, where a unique complex of 10th century is located. From here a fascinating view to Lori canyon is opening.
Then a 4-5-hour trekking will start. You will firstly move to Kayan Berd fortress located on the top of a small hill above Debed river gorge. Then the road will continue to Sanahin village where a gorgeous monastery of 10th century is located. Then we will move to Yerevan - capital city of Armenia.

 

Day 7.

Yerevan city tour (2,5-hour on foot)

Jazz club as an option

The day will start with a 2,5-hour walking tour to the main sites of the capital city. Then we will move to Davtashen bridge. Here the guests will have an opportunity to try urban zipline hanging under the bridge at 87-90-meters height on Hrazdan river gorge. After this fun activity the group will move to Dalan restaurant to have lunch and try themselves in making most famous Armenian dishes. At Ararat brandy factory the guests will taste some sorts of best Armenian brandy or cognac and have an excursion at the territory of the factory.
Duduk master will meet you at his cozy house. He will introduce the amazing instrument called duduk, which is included in the list of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The master will show several types of the instrument demonstrate their features and play heart-touching sounds on duduk.
The dinner will be organized at a nice traditional restaurant with live music show. Some of the guest may want to enjoy Yerevan nights listening to jazz music at Malkhas Jazz Club. This will be organized upon request.

 

Day 8.

Trekking to Tsakhats kar, Smbataberd fortress and Yeghegis village (4-5 hour, 10 km, medium)

Dinner and overnight at Yeghegis village

During this day you will discover Southern provinces of Armenia. Passing by a narrow canyon you will reach Noravank monastery surrounded by red rocks. After admiring the fascinating view and wonderful architecture of the monastery the group will move to Artabyuk village. From here a 4-5 hour trekking will start. Passing by Tsakhats Kar monastery the group will reach Smbataberd fortress located on the top of the hill. Then they will move down to Yeghegis village and have an excursion to the medieval monuments of the village and its surrounding.
The overnight of the guests will be organized in a hotel in Yeghegis or Hermon villages.

 

Day 9.

Selim caravanserai

Lernahovit village

Trekking to Armaghan mountain (17 km, 6-7 hour, medium)

Dinner at Tsovatsots restaurant with the view to lake Sevan

Trip to Yerevan

Overnight in Yerevan

After the breakfast we will move to Gegharkunik province passing by Vardeniats pass. It was one of the trails of Silk road passing by Armenia. Thus, here on the half of the way to Gegharkunik, the guest can see a caravanserai which hosted travelers, caravan riders and their pack animals to spend the night.
From Lernahovit village the trekking to Armaghan mountain (2829 m) will start. After climbing up the mountain the group will find themselves in wonderful area with mountain lake and gorgeous view to the Armenian landscape. After having lunch on the top of the mountain (with lunch boxes) the group will go down and move to Sevan lake. Here, at Tsovatsots restaurant, located on the shore of lake Sevan, you will try fish dishes and have a rest. Then you will move to Yerevan and have overnight here.

 

Day 10.

Garni village

Free time

Transfer to Zvartnots international airport

The last day of the tour will be light and nice. Passing by the Azat river gorge which is included in UNESCO world heritage list, you will enjoy mesmerizing view of Symphony of Stones or Basalt Organ natural monument. The view of this volcanic stones will definitely impress the guests. After a 3-hour light walk in the gorge, you will have a lunch at Garni village, and see how real Armenian bread lavash is baked. Then the group will have an excursion to the only remaining pagan temple of Armenian Garni temple of 1st century AC.
After getting back to Yerevan the guests will have an opportunity to have a rest. Then they will be taken to the airport.
