“Zvartnots” Historical-Cultural Museum-Reservation

During the excavations of the ruins of Zvartnots (Saint Gregory) Temple (641-652) and its adjacent constructions, carried out in 1900-1907, artefacts of exceptional historical-scientific value were unearthed. In 1936-1937, a museum building, designed by a renowned architect Nikolay Buniatov, was erected in the southern part of the temple for a proper placement of the artifacts. At that time, it was a small exposition fit in a hall with an area of 80 square meters. Today there are three exhibition halls – two of which are used for permanent and one for temporary and mobile expositions. There are over 10000 valuable exhibits kept in the main and auxiliary museum funds, as well as displayed in the open-air museum.
